12-day family safari & Zanzibar getaway

This 12-day safari combines the excitement of game drives, guided bush walks, waterfall nature walks, cultural visits with a beach vacation.

Arriving Arusha

Day 1

Upon arrival at the Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), our representative will be at the airport to pick you up and transfer you to your accommodations at the Rivertrees Country Inn near Arusha. The drive from the airport to your hotel is about an hour.

Marangu Cultural Visit & Marangu Waterfalls

Day 2

After breakfast, you will depart to Marangu village located at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro. On our way to Marangu, we will stop wherever there is a clear view of Mount Kilimanjaro for photos. (Please note, the view is NOT guaranteed as the mountain can only be seen on clear days). We will try our best to make sure you see this remarkable view even if we need to stay a bit longer in Kilimanjaro region. You will arrive at Marangu village for a cultural visit which will include learning about the Marangu Chagga people, exploring the caves and touring the museum. Later you will enjoy a local lunch before we proceed to Marangu waterfalls. The journey is a bit steep but the beauty is well worth the effort. In the evening, we will return to our accommodations for dinner, evening leisure, and overnight stay.

Tarangire National Park & Lake Manyara Sunset Nature Walk

Day 3

After breakfast, we collect our picnic lunches and drive to Tarangire National Park for a full day game drive. Tarangire has the highest concentration of elephants in northern Tanzania and you can view these animals all year round where elephant herd populations can reach as many as 3,000. In Tarangire you can also spot big cats and many other wild animals. Tarangire is also one of the best destinations for bird watching.


After a full day of game viewing, we drive to our accommodations at Maromboi Tented Camp. At sunset we will head out on a short Lake Manyara National Park nature walk. Our day of adventure will conclude with dinner and evening leisure.

Tarangire to Central Serengeti

Day 4

After breakfast, you will head towards the Central Serengeti, also known as the Seronera. We descend into the heart of wild Africa, the Serengeti National Park, with it's endless plains, rolling into the distance as far as the eye can see. We head to the central Seronera area, one of the richest wildlife habitats in the park, featuring the Seronera River, a valuable water source that attracts the endless wildlife in the region.


At sunset we will head to our accommodations at Kati Kati Tented Camp dinner and a relaxing evening.

Central Serengeti to Northern Serengeti

Day 5

After breakfast, depart with picnic lunches for an early morning game drive in the central Serengeti. After lunch, we head to the northern Serengeti to experience the great wildebeest migration. In route we will explore the plains in search of the Serengeti's prized diverse wildlife.


At the end of our day we will arrive at the Acacia Mobile Migration Camp for dinner and a relaxing evening.

Northern Serengeti & the Great Migration Mara River Crossing

Day 6

After an early breakfast, depart for a morning game drive in anticipation of seeing the great wildebeest migration river crossing. The day is primarily focused on experiencing this once in a lifetime National Geographic event. Throughout the day we will continue our exploration of the rolling hills and plains for the other indigenous wildlife. The plains of the northern Serengeti are home to lion, leopard, cheetah, elephants, girrafe, zebra, hippos, crocodile, hyena and large predatory raptors.



As the sun starts to set we will arrive back at the mobile camp for a friendly dinner annd evening leisure.

Northern Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater

Day 7

Today is a very full day as we start to retrace our 'steps' as we game drive to Ngorongoro crater all along the way in search of Serengeti wildlife. After breakfast we may choose to catch one more river crossing before we start south towards the Seronera. In the afternoon our game drive will have us exploring the rich wildlife of the central Serengeti.



As we exit the Serengeti National Park we travel across the dry and barren Olduvai gorge. Our drive ends with a final accent up to the rim of the Ngorongoro crater where we will arrive at the Ngorongoro Farm House Lodge for dinner and a much deserved night of rest and relaxation.

Day 8

After an early breakfast, you will depart with picnic and descend into the Ngorongoro crater floor for game viewing. The crater has a unique ecosystem that is inhabited by more than 25,000 resident animals. In the grass steppes and acacia forest you can encounter almost every animal species of the East African savanna, including the “Big Five” (rhino, elephant, Cape buffalo, lion, leopard). After a full day of exploring the incredible terain and wildlife we will ascend the crater as we return to our accommodations for dinner and a good nights sleep.



Ngorongoro to Zanzibar

Day 9

After a leisurely morning and breakfast, depart with picnic lunch to Arusha airport for your early afternoon flight to Zanzibar. Arrive at Abeid Amani Karume International Airport, where you will meet our representative at the airport and drive to the Breezes Beach Club located on the south east coast for your relaxing beach vacation.

Day 10-11

The objective here is to just relax and refresh, the possibilities of activities are endless at Zanzibar, but a lazy day at the beach beats everything else! You and the family have endless expanses of sun-drenched, white-sand beaches to explore or simply kick back under an umbrella in a lounge chair reflecting on all you have experienced over the last 10 days.

Day 12

Before leaving the Paradise Island of Zanzibar, enjoy an early morning at the beach or just relax by the pool. Enjoy a lush breakfast at the hotel, before our representative drives you back to Zanzibar International Airport to return home. It is an emotional moment for everyone as we bid you "Kwaheri" (Good-bye in Swahili)
